Connecticut Housing Programs for Single Moms

A secure and stable home is important for a single mom and her children. Get assistance in paying your mortgage or find affordable housing. Pregnant moms can get off to a good start with a maternity home and single moms can be surrounded by a community for support.  You can find the program that fits your situation.

Co-Abode

Public Housing Authority
Public housing agencies (PHAs) work with welfare agencies, schools, businesses, and other local partners to develop a comprehensive program that gives participating FSS family members the skills and experience to enable them to obtain employment that pays a living wage. Rental Deposit Assistance

The program guarantees to the landlord that DSS will pay the agreed upon security deposit, in part or in whole, if there are damages or rental arrearages after the tenant moves out.

Habitat For Humanity
Applications are accepted twice a year during the open application periods, currently scheduled to be held during Spring and Fall. Habitat for Humanity of Southeastern Connecticut will schedule applicant orientations open to the public and advertise the time and dates through the newspaper and radio. Attendance at an applicant orientation will be necessary to obtain an application.
